Meridan State College is affiliated with School Sport at District, Regional, State and National levels, this provides representative pathways in 23 different officially registered school sports.
There are many opportunities for student-athletes at Meridan to make these representative teams, and undertake these developmental pathways.
Age groups are based on the age the student is turning in the current calendar year; not their age at the time of the trials.
* Due to an overlap in the younger netball and rugby league age divisions, students must decide which team they wish to trial for. Specific details will be further explained in the expression of interest link.

Swimming, Cross Country and Track and Field Selections
Swimming
Students that finish 1 or 2 in a Community Carnival competitive swimming event will be invited to join the Meridan Primary or Secondary Swim Team. Selected students will be informed via a selection note following the carnival. Enquiries about the Meridan Swim Team should be directed to the Team managers.

Cross Country
Primary students that finish top 6 in their age group and secondary students that finish top 5 in the Community Cross Country will be invited to join the Meridan Cross Country Team. Selected students will be informed via a selection note following the carnival. Enquiries about the Meridan Cross Country Team should be directed to the Team managers.

Track and Field
Students that finish first or second for their age group in an athletic event and make District qualifying standards at the Community Athletics Carnival will be invited to join the Meridan Athletics Team. Selected students will be informed via a selection note following the carnival. Enquiries about the Meridan Athletics Team should be directed to the Team managers.

All Other Representative School Sport Trials (10 – 19 Years)
Students aged 10-19 are able to trial for Coastal District Sporting teams. Selection in these teams begin a pathway to regional, state and national selection. Trials for these sports occur after school at various venues around the local area and students must make their own way to these trials. For some sports trials are directly into a Sunshine Coast Regional team, where the trial occurs during the school day.
ALL nominations for these representative school sport trials MUST BE DONE ONLINE VIA THE LINK BELOW; please read the below details carefully as failure to follow the correct procedures will results in students being ineligible to attend trials. ALL DUE DATES ARE FINAL.
Students wishing to trial must complete the following 2-step process:
STEP 1
Complete a Meridan online expression of interest at least 1 week prior to the trial date. Nominees will then be emailed specific trial details one week before the trial, and our Sport Coordinator will forward the nominees to the District Sport Secretary.
STEP 2:
Complete the Coastal District Trial online nomination process which is emailed to you as soon as it arrives to ensure nomination deadlines are met. Ensure any additional trial fees are paid to the College and that any required hard copies of paperwork for the trials are taken and submitted to the trial convenor on the trial day.
PLEASE NOTE: online notations deadlines are final and cannot be changed.
Failure to meet these deadlines will mean the nominee is unable to trial.
