Important procedures in the school day

Before school routines

Children who enter the grounds before first bell are not under direct supervision.  Primary students who come to school before 8:00am need to sit in the covered area behind the Prep buildings and wait to be dismissed by a member of Admin.

Students are not permitted to leave the College grounds once they have arrived in the morning, at 1st break or at 2nd break, unless they are signed out of the College by a parent.

End of the day routines

All students should be out of the grounds by 3:15pm unless they are under teacher supervision or other approved adult control, such as waiting for buses or sport training.  Even then, they should not loiter for any longer than necessary.

Should you be unable to collect your child by 3:15pm, please make alternative arrangements.

School gates

Please note that the school gates are closed from 9.00am to 2.30pm each day.

During school lunch breaks, entry and exit to the school grounds is via the Executive building. On Tuesday and Wednesday afternoons, Secondary students are to exit the school grounds at 2.30pm via the Secondary school gate.

Students exiting school grounds during school hours

Departures during school hours

  • Students are expected to attend school for the entirety of the school day, unless on a Principal approved Part-time Education Program (PTEP).
  • Wherever possible, all student sign outs during school hours are to be communicated with Absences prior to 9am.
  • Wherever possible, families are to make appointments for secondary students outside of school time (post 2:30pm T, W and post 3pm M, Th & F).
  • Parents who sign out students out regularly during school hours may be requested to provide additional information for ongoing patterns of absences. Students and parents may be subject to Enforcement of Attendance (Compulsory School age students) or Cancellation of Enrolment procedures (students 16 yrs or older or in Year 11/12).
  • Students are not permitted to use mobile devices on campus during school hours. Students using a mobile on school grounds will be managed as per Student Mobile Phone Policy.
  • Students who are sick are to present to the sick bay as per regular procedure, other emergent circumstances requiring students to use a mobile device require a discussion with Deputy Principal or Head of Department.
  • Students are not permitted to sign out and sign back in for purposes other than a medical appointment, accompanied by a parent or guardian. Students are not to be signed out for lunch etc.
  • Any external food, including delivery services, will not be permitted to be bought onto school grounds during school hours. Any food required to be consumed immediately, will be under the direction of a staff member at Exec building or similar.

Signing students in/out

PRIMARY PARENTS are to sign students in/out through the Client Services building.

SECONDARY STUDENTS are required to scan their ID card at the external window of the Client Services building to generate a slip from our roll marking software. This slip will be required for students to enter class (if late) or exit class or the school grounds (if leaving early). Year 8-12 students enrolled at Meridan State College in 2024 are able to use their current ID card. Newly enrolled and Year 7 students will need to sign in/out through the Client Services foyer.
All Secondary students will receive a new ID card following the Secondary school photo day in Term 1.
