Representative Sport Trials

 

​There are many opportunities for sportspeople at Meridan to make representative teams. Please click on the links below to view the Representative Trials Calendar. The trials outlined below are for Coastal District (10-12 years) or Central District (13-19 years) teams and successful students open up pathways to Sunshine Coast, Queensland and Australian selection.

(Age groups are based on the age the student is turning in the current calendar year; not their age at the time of the trials)

Swimming

Students that finish 1 or 2 in a Community Carnival swimming event will be invited to join the Meridan Primary or Secondary Swim Team. Selected students will be informed via a selection note following the carnival. Enquiries about the Meridan Swim Team should be directed to the Team managers.

Cross Country

Primary students that finish top 6 in their age group and secondary students that finish top 5 in the Community Cross Country will be invited to join the Meridan Cross Country Team. Selected students will be informed via a selection note following the carnival. Enquiries about the Meridan Cross Country Team should be directed to the Team managers.

Athletics

Students that finish first or second for their age group in an athletic event and make District qualifying standards at the Community Athletics Carnival will be invited to join the Meridan Athletics Team. Selected students will be informed via a selection note following the carnival. Enquiries about the Meridan Athletics Team should be directed to the Team managers.

Under 12 Representative Sport Trials

Students aged 10-12 are able to trial for Coastal District Sporting teams. Selection in these teams begin a pathway to regional, state and national selection. Trials for these sport occur after school at various venues around the local area and students must make their own way to the trials. Students wishing to trial must collect a trial note well in advance of the trial date to enable the note to be returned to the College. Trials notes can be collected from the Sport Centre Staffroom

10-12 Representative Sports include:

  • Aquathon (boys & girls) – direct nomination to regional trials
  • Australian Rules (boys)
  • Cricket (boys)
  • Football (Soccer) (boys & girls)
  • Golf (boys & girls) – direct nomination to regional trials
  • Hockey (boys & girls)
  • Netball – 12 years and 11 years (girls)
  • Rugby League – 12 years and 11 years (boys)
  • Rugby Union (boys)
  • Softball – 12 years and 11 years (boys & girls)
  • Tennis (boys & girls)
  • Secondary Representative Sport Trials

Students are able to trial for Central District Sporting teams in Under 15 or Under 19 age divisions. Selection in these teams begin a pathway to regional, state and national selection. Trials for these sport occur after school on three trial dates across Term 1 at various venues around the local area. Student must make their own way to the trials. Students wishing to trial must collect a trial note well in advance of the trial date to enable the note to be returned to the College.

Sports include:

  • Trial Day 1: Tennis, Softball, Cricket, Volleyball, Touch, Baseball AFL
  • Trial Day 2: Basketball, Soccer, Rugby League, Rugby Union, Netball
  • Trial Day 3: Basketball, Soccer, Rugby Union, Surfing
