Our Library, located in the Resource Centre, is a dynamic learning environment catering to the needs of all of our Meridan students from Prep to Year 12.
We understand the needs of our students change regularly. There are rapid advancements in technology and information available, and our collections reflect this.
We have very rich and extensive fiction collections for our students, with appropriate access to books for all year levels. We are regularly adding to our collections to ensure they are full and robust, including classics, newly released titles and everything in between.
The different Non-Fiction sections of our Library cater for the educational needs of our students with links to the curriculum. These collections are well rounded including titles which are of high interest to our students.
Our teaching staff have access to the very best teaching resources to support the students across all areas of learning.
Our Library offers students access to computers and laptops and caters for all types of devices with excellent access to Wi-Fi.
Parents and community members are also able to access any of the resources held by our Library. Providing resources, which enable parents to support their children through their education, is extremely important to us.
Opening Hours
8:00am – 3:30pm Monday to Friday during school terms.
As we are operating on two timetables, (one for the Primary School and one for the Secondary School) the Library is open in the first break for each group.
Students are able to borrow before school, in the first break and after school.
Primary students have a timetabled borrowing time and will come to our Library to borrow with their class during this time.
Primary students are also welcome to come before school, first break or after school until 3:15pm.
Special Events
Every year, the Library organises events which encourage in our students a love of the written word.
Book Fair – our annual fundraising event, raising vital funds for the purchase of new resources for our Library.
National Simultaneous Story time – National Simultaneous Story time is held in May every year. Classes in the Primary School read the same book at the same time, and then undertake many different activities.
Book Week - Book Week, celebrated in August every year, is organised in support of the Children's Book Council of Australia. Multiple copies of the shortlisted titles are purchased for use across the whole College. Students in Prep – Year 3 take part in our Book Week Fancy Dress Parade and our talented teaching staff put on a performance for the students. There are daily activities and quizzes (for all of our students P - 12) held in the Library throughout Book Week.
