Parents and Citizens' Association – Model Constitution
MEMBERSHIP
14.1 Eligibility
14.1.1 The following persons are eligible to be members of the Association:
Parent of a child attending the School
a staff member of the School, or
an adult who is interested in the school's welfare
14.2 The Principal/Acting Principal of the School is automatically a member of the Association.
14.2.1 An employee of the Association is eligible to be a member of the Association.
16.1 Executive Committee
16.1.1 The Association has an Executive Committee that is comprised of the following Officers of the Association:
the Presiden
the Vice-President or Vice-Presidents
the Secretary
the Treasurer.
16.1.2 Subject to clause 16.1.3, when Officers of the Association are elected at an annual general meeting, the number of relevant staff members of the School who may be members of the Executive Committee must not be more than one-third of the total number of members of the Executive Committee. In this clause 16.1.2, the term “relevant staff member" means a staff member of the School who is not a parent of a child attending the School.
21.1 Annual General Meetings
21.1.1 The annual general meeting of the Association must be held by 31 March in the year following the end of the preceding financial year of the Association.
21.1.2 Subject to clause 21.3.1, at the last general meeting for the year (to be held before 31 December) the Association may determine the date of the following year's annual general meeting.
21.1.3 At least 14 days before the day of the annual general meeting, notice of the annual general meeting must be given in writing personally, or by post or email to each member of the Association. However, a resolution passed at the annual general meeting is not invalid merely because a member of the Association did not receive notice of the meeting.
21.1.4 A quorum for an annual general meeting of the Association is 10
