Meridan State College is committed to improving students’ physical skills and providing them with a wide-variety of sporting opportunities. For this reason staff provide additional development opportunities in targeted sports for our students.

Developing Excellence Squads meet weekly or fortnightly throughout the year outside of school time. They are groups comprised of students from multiple year levels with an aim to create a culture of high performance. Younger students are able to develop skills, while older students can extend their abilities and mentor others. The program is also designed to develop College-wide strategies and approaches to game play, enabling success to grow from year to year.

The program also looks to provide students with the opportunity to participate in high-level inter-school sport. Age groups that demonstrate commitment to the program may be offered the opportunity the travel around the sunshine coast or the South-East corner to participate in Queensland-wide school competitions.

Meridan currently has Developing Excellences Programs in the following sports:

  • Volleyball
  • Oztag
  • Netball
  • Athletics
