Key dates for Year 12 Students

Below is a list of practical suggestions to support conversations with your Year 12 child.
a)    Focus on the reasons your child wants to be successful – to obtain their QCE, obtain an OP of worth or selection rank to enable them to go onto pathways of choice at TAFE/University or employment.  Be eligible to graduate and celebrate with their peers at the formal/graduation.
b)    Ensure school attendance for all lessons every day.  If your child is absent for a valid reason, please ensure that the school is notified of this reason as soon as possible and develop strategies to catch up on missed work. This is particularly true of PTS/QCS classes on Tuesday afternoon and Wednesday mornings as this is the time when a lot of information will be published to students via year level parades.
c)    Monitor and balance commitments out of school time so that sufficient time is allocated to complete assignments and study for exams.
d)    Support your child with healthy eating habits and sleep patterns so that your child is in peak condition to perform well at school.
If you have any concerns about your child progress and or eligibility to graduate at the end of the year, please do not hesitate to contact either Mr Lawrence HOD Senior Schooling or Mrs Wicks Deputy Principal Secondary.
USC Early Offer Guarantee
Once again The University of the Sunshine Coast (USC) is offering our current Year 12 students the opportunity to apply for the Early Offer Guarantee (EOG) for entry into their courses in 2020. The Early Offer Guarantee enables Year 12 students to be offered an early and guaranteed place at the University of the Sunshine Coast in November. These offers are made prior to the release of Year 12 results, rather than student having to wait until the mid-January QTAC offer round. Early and guaranteed offers will be made to students based on the recommendations of the College. In 2020, the Australian Tertiary Admission Rank (ATAR) will replace the Overall Position (OP). This will not change the Early Offer Guarantee process and students can still expect the same benefits and application process will apply. To be eligible students must submit their EOG application to the school as well as an application to QTAC. As the EOG application requires a QTAC Application Number, students should first apply to QTAC, being careful to list a USC course as their first preference. A copy of the student’s Semester 1, Year 12 results need to be included with the EOG application. If applying for any of the Education programs the student must also attach a copy of the Personal Statement of non-academic competencies. A copy of the 2019 EOG Student Information and Application Form will be available from the USC website from Friday 2 August and can be downloaded by clicking on the following link:
We would expect that any students who are interested in applying should hand in their EOG application directly to Mrs Toni Clarence before the end of term 3 Friday September 20. If further information/ assistance is required please feel free to contact or make an appointment with (Guidance Officer) before this date.
Non-OP eligible students will receive additional talks from the Guidance Officer and other appropriate guest speakers at a later date (TBA) exploring their post Year 12 options.
