BYOx Ipads 2018

BYO iPads in 2018

In 2018, iPads will be accepted as a student device as part of the BYOx program.

Now that every student has a Department Microsoft Office 365 account, they can log in to and use all Office applications, including OneNote on an iPad.

However, it should be noted that a laptop is still the preferred device for BYOx at Meridan.

Students (particularly in senior secondary) who are enrolled in subjects that require computers capable of running specialist 'Pro' software should not consider an iPad as their primary device for school but may wish to use an iPad as a secondary device.

There are several reasons why students may wish to use an iPad at school, including portability, photo and video recording, and cost.  For example, a student might have English, Science, and Art on Wednesdays. With an iPad equipped with a keyboard and stylus, the student might type up a draft of their story in English, create an illustration in art, and film the results of their experiment in Science.

If you are an existing BYOx participant, there is no extra cost to bring an iPad as a secondary device.  To connect a secondary device, see the IT technicians at the resource centre at help desk times.

The following minimum specification will be mandatory for on-boarding an iPad in BYOx:
• iPad Air or newer
• iOS11 operating system preferred
• minimum 32GB of storage preferred
• Bluetooth keyboard
