At Meridan our curriculum mission is to empower all of our students with the capacity to enrich the communities and cultures of the future and embrace life’s complex challenges as motivated, caring, global contributors to realize tomorrow’s possibilities.

Our educational philosophy is founded upon the belief that we are all individuals who develop and learn in different ways. Students are provided with a variety of curriculum offerings presented in exciting and meaningful ways utilizing real life experiences, contemporary resources and technology to ensure students have the opportunity to achieve to their potential each and every day. Our curriculum is founded upon Outcomes Based Education. This style of education is published by the Queensland Studies Authority and expressed through 8 Key Learning Areas from Years 1 – 10. The Key Learning areas are: English, Mathematics, Science, Studies of Society and the Environment, The Arts, Health and Physical Education, Technology and Languages Other Than English. In addition to this, students will have opportunities to participate in a variety of extra curricular activities such as, sporting competitions, choir, instrumental music, writing competitions, and public speaking competitions etc.

Our teachers work collaboratively in teams to design, plan, implement and assess the units of study to ensure consistency of practice and judgement across all year levels. They also attend professional development and training throughout the year to keep abreast of contemporary and best practice techniques.
